The abundance mindset is the way of thinking about your business in terms of taking on clients that you can provide the best services for and holding off on others due to lack of expertise or just not the “right fit”. Realizing that turning away potential income is better than putting in more work for a less beneficial (to you, the business, and their owners) deliverable.

  • Not Just Confidence
    • Having the right mindset is not just about confidence and positivity
  • Don’t be tricked by the dollar sign.
  • Abundance vs. Scarcity
    • While we understand there is privilege in turning away clients, we know that some of the time it is the better option – and as lots of work comes in, to make the right decisions due to desire and expertise rather than dollar signs.
    • Choosing projects in your “zone of genius” further benefits clients who you do that work for and ones who you won’t do work for because it is not your expertise.

that’s my zone of genius and that’s where I am happiest and truly, that’s where any client is going to get the best of me.

Trusting in Yourself & Continuing to Improve

  • Your Gut Instinct – Yes, you should be able to trust your gut instinct, but this doesn’t mean sitting back and waiting for the best clients to come to you. It means still working to improve yourself and your business as well as expanding your skillset – but knowing your strengths and weaknesses.
  • This may not always work. Sometimes the abundance mindset is not feasible, you need an income to pay the bills, or suddenly circumstances have changed and that’s ok. It’s ok to just be continuing to make things work – as long as eventually you intend to go back to the abundance mindset.

Setting Boundaries with Difficult Clients

Ladies, the next time you’re worried you’re asking for too much money think about how many raspberries have the audacity to cost $7 for ONE 6oz container. We need organic raspberry confidence.

  • Know your worth – in the beginning it’s difficult because you want to appease everyone, but you are running a business. If you cringe when you receive a call or email from them, they may not be the right client for you.

Importance of Community

  • Be conscious of who is checking in – and making sure you are a friend who also checks in on others.
  • Find your niche – there are many free community groups for entrepreneurs and specific business owners.
    • Set boundaries within your communities too!
